You Are Never Alone: Editorial Spread

PRINT EDITORIAL SPREAD

Project Details

I designed this editorial spread based on an article about the millions of microbes surrounding us at all times. I began by researching microbes, specifically microscopic shots of various bacteria. I took inspiration from a lot of the textures they possessed and decided I would create my expressive piece with found objects that mirror those textures. I wanted to represent the feeling of being surrounded, so I made my composition very busy with multiple elements surrounding the center where the main text was. I used the pill shapes and pipe-cleaners to mirror the shape of many germs as well. Lastly, I placed many of my elements in the direction of the right side of my spread, to carry the viewer’s eye into the beginning of my article. I enjoy combining physical art such as collage, sculpture, or illustration with graphic design because I believe it provides more variety in my work.
